WOOD AS MEANING, FUNCTION AND MEMORY
Paula Silva Ruvalcaba was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. As an artist, she works in different media, such as photography, design, video and installation. Her main interest always lays in transformation and cycles. She dedicated a long period of time to documentary filmmaking, which is why she remains very eager to experiment with the way she interacts with reality, as a place of perception.
She is now designing furniture, just to redefine again how is she related to memory, meaning and function. She was granted with a Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes, FONCA Fellowship (2004-2005). Her work has been exhibited in Mexico, Canada, South Africa, Netherlands, Argentina and Spain.
